Development of Sustainable Measurement Systems and Standards to Reduce the Environmental Impacts of Qatar’s Economy
This project focuses on the quantitative environmental assessment of the carbon-saving initiatives developed within the overall cluster proposal, which will reduce the environmental impacts from building energy consumption, energy carrier production, agricultural greenhouses, and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) processes. Essentially, this subproject assesses the environmental impacts of carbon reduction strategies using tools such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC). The combination of both LCA and LCC reveals the most cost-effective initiatives in terms of carbon reduction and reduced environmental burdens, thus establishing a ranking of the cost-effectiveness of each proposed initiative
Objectives And Goals
- Assessing direct CO2 capture from air in terms of environmental and cost assessment.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessment on the different parts of the process.
- Perform Life Cycle Costing on the systems to evaluate their cost-effectiveness.
